Diatomaceous Earth – Natural, non-toxic and ecological insecticide

Diatomaceous Earth is a 100% natural insecticide, effective against parasites and crawling insects, while remaining safe for your pets, family and the environment. It is a simple, clean and versatile solution for sanitizing your companions' environment.

🌿 What is Diatomaceous Earth?

Diatomaceous Earth comes from a rock composed of fossilized micro-algae (diatoms), reduced to a very fine powder. Its particles act through mechanical action (micro-cuts and dehydration), which allows it to:

  • Neutralize parasites with no possible resistance.

  • Dry damp areas and neutralize odors.

  • Clean without scratching delicate surfaces.

  • Act without any chemicals, with zero environmental impact.

🐾 Diatomaceous earth and our pets

Sprinkle diatomaceous earth on places likely to harbor fleas or their larvae: on the basket, in the kennel or in the litter box.

  • Instructions for use: Let it act, then vacuum the next day.

  • Frequency: Repeat the action once a week for at least 4 weeks to ensure all larvae are eradicated and the reproduction cycle is broken.

🌱 Diatomaceous earth in the garden

To limit crawling pest invasions:

  • On the ground: Apply Diatomaceous Earth in the parasites' pathways, creating a barrier 0.5 to 2 cm wide and 2 mm high. For hard-to-reach places, use an applicator bottle.

  • On plants: Use the applicator bottle to target desired areas.

  • Caution: Do not apply on flowers! Pollinating insects (bees, butterflies) would be the first victims.

  • Effectiveness observed on: Fleas, aphids, ticks, slugs, ants, etc.

To boost your vegetable garden: Mixed with soil, it provides silica which improves plant resistance. It limits water stress by retaining water and releasing it during droughts. Its drying action also limits stagnant water, thus reducing mosquito proliferation.

🏠 Diatomaceous earth at home

To dry and limit odors:

  • On floors and carpets: Apply 30g per m² (about 3 tablespoons) covering the area. Let it act for a few hours as needed, then vacuum.

  • Difficult areas: For skirting boards, between floorboards or in a ceiling, prefer the applicator bottle.

⚠️ Important Safety Warning

Although Diatomaceous Earth is non-toxic, it is a very fine powder that should be handled with care:

  • Do not inhale: Like any mineral dust, it can irritate the respiratory tract. Avoid creating dust clouds.

  • Targeted application: Do not apply directly to your pet's face, snout, or nose.

  • Protect eyes: Keep out of reach of eyes (yours and your pets').

  • Responsible use: Used correctly on textiles and surfaces, it remains one of the safest solutions for a chemical-free home.

📋 Composition and Storage

  • Composition: Diatomaceous Earth (Amorphous and uncalcined silicon dioxide) (CAS No.: 61790-53-2).

  • Storage: Store in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Close tightly after use.

  • Precautions: Keep out of reach of children. Do not swallow. Do not inhale. Avoid contact with eyes.
